John H Darch

John H Darch read history at the University of Wales, Lampeter where he later returned to research for his doctorate. He taught history in two London schools before ordination into the Anglican ministry. After parish ministry in Shrewsbury, Chester and Hyde he lectured in Church History and Liturgy at St John's College, Nottingham.

John then served for twelve years as Director of Ordinands and IME2 in Blackburn diocese. Now retired, lives on the Shropshire / Wales border and assists in parishes in both Lichfield and St Asaph dioceses.

John is the author of a number of articles on mission history and has written Missionary Imperialists?: Missionaries, Government and the growth of the British Empire in the Tropics, 1860-1885 (Milton Keynes: Paternoster, 2009).
